Craig Batley has been in the real estate industry for over 40 years. After receiving his MBA at the University of Washington in 1973, he began his real estate career flipping houses. In 1977 Craig became a licensed real estate broker and opened his first of 4 RE/MAX offices the following year, which grew to become the top real estate sales company in the Newport Beach / Costa Mesa area. After selling the last of his RE/MAX offices in 1991, he and his partner, Joan Trout, purchased Burr White Realty in 1997, building it into the most recognized residential property management company in West Newport Beach on the Peninsula, specializing in vacation and long-term rental management and boutique real estate sales. Today, Burr White Realty manages property in the greater Orange County area. The past 20 years, Burr White Realty has written over 10,000 rental contracts with guests and tenants. Joan has a wealth of real estate experience, dating back to 1973 when she obtained her real estate license. Working first for Fred Sands in the San Fernando Valley, she moved to Orange County in 1984, where she broadened her career as a manager for the first RE/MAX franchise in the state of California, located in Costa Mesa. Her love of people, sense of humor, and common sense soon proved to be invaluable assets to the company, and was promoted to Manager of the Newport Beach office in 1988. In 1989 RE/MAX was the number-one office in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, due in a large part to Joan’s managerial savvy and sterling reputation as an honest and hard working administrator. After five successful years at the helm, she decided the time was right in 1997 to move into ownership position with Burr White Realty located on the Newport Beach Peninsula. Wendy was born and raised in Orange County and currently resides in Anaheim, CA. Previously Wendy worked 10+ years in the hospitality industry. She earned an AA in Business Administration and is presently enrolled at California State University in Fullerton with the goal of obtaining a BA degree in Business Administration. Wendy enjoys frequenting regional Orange County parks and taking photographs of all the beautiful scenery. Located on the peninsula one of Wendy’s favorite restaurants I the Crab Cooker and recommends the clam chowder.
Summer Shaw recently joined the BW team as our winter & summer guest coordinator. Summer was born and raised in Orange County. As a local, she frequently attended the local amusement parks, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and Legoland. Summer recommends dinner at Guac Amigos or The Rusty Pelican and local activities including kayaking in the bay and boardwalk bike rides. Summer’s career has been focused on hospitality the past ten (10) years, having worked for LEGOLAND, Holiday Inn, Express, Wyndham, and the Crowne Plaza. Currently in school at Grand Canyon University she is studying for her Bachelors in Hospitality Management.
Hannah is a born and raised native Orange Countian and currently lives in Huntington Beach. She has worked in customer service since the age of 16 working at Knotts Berry Farm and as a lifeguard at the Disneyland Resort. Hannah is a graduate of the National Holistic Institute of Massage Therapy and loves to cook and garden on the weekends. Sara Dang is a native Californian and calls Anaheim home. Sara has worked in customer service at the Disneyland Resort and as a supervisor at Target. She has a Liberal Arts Degree from California State University San Marcos. Sara’s goal is to eventually obtain her teaching credentials majoring in History and eventually teach high school. Sara has driven across the country over ten times, taking hundreds of photos all the while collecting Starbucks coffee mugs in each state she visits. Sara recommends renting a Moke and seeing all that Newport Beach has to offer.
Kimberly Abbott was born and raised in Newport Beach and brings us 25 years of customer service. Her uncle owned a clothing business in Newport while her grandparents owned a house on balboa island. In her free time Kim enjoys visiting the mountains, water sports, and navigating the seas to Catalina Island on a sailboat. She recommends the crab cooker (and their clam chowder) as one of her favorite spots for dinner. and renting a Duffy boat in the harbor as the best activity in Newport!
Teresa Robert’s customer service provides owners and customers alike personal attention meeting all expectations. Born and raised in Southern California Teresa has worked in customer service for over 20 years. Teresa is responsible for assisting all long-term management team members. Teresa monitors all tenant emails, correspondence, problem solving and promptly responding the same day to all inquiries. She maintains outstanding relationships with tenants working closely with the maintenance department
Alex Bones brings eight years of retail sales experience with Nordstrom to his position at Burr White Property Management. Alex left retail to join our team in order to advance his sales and leasing career. As a long-term leasing team member, Alex’s duties primarily focus on tenant and owner relations. Service and encouragement, together with integrity, are traits that drive Alex in his everyday endeavors. Alex was born and raised in Orange County. His understanding of the area is an asset to his clients looking to lease in Newport Beach and Orange County at large. Shawn Maxwell attended Corona del Mar High School and later graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Communications. Shawn worked for a Hawaiian Marriott resort for 5 years. Shawn managed a residential property portfolio for several years prior to joining the BW team as associate Property Manager. Born and raised on Balboa Island Shawn’s family built several homes on the Island. Shawn brings a wide range of property management skills and hospitality experience to the BW team.
Michael Dowling brings several years of property management experience to the Burr White Property Management TEAM. Born and raised in Southern California, Michael is familiar with the California lifestyle. He understands tenants demand a high level of service. Michael is the team leader of the yearly maintenance department. He reviews all tenant work order requests following the process through to completion. He verifies all pertinent property expenses with the accounting department. Michael also participates in annual inspection, helping the yearly annual leasing department complete timely inspections as needed.
Burr White Realty’s Maintenance Supervisor, Gary Hernandez, has been a licensed and bonded General Contractor for over 25 years in addition to obtaining a degree in Engineering with a minor in Business. He has extensive experience in the Orange County area, including custom home construction, major and minor remodeling projects, as well as large multifamily apartment and condominium developments. Gary’s experience makes him an invaluable member of the Burr White team, able to quickly respond to maintenance requests and manage and assign independent contractors to complete repairs on behalf of owners and tenants.
Jack is a native Californian. He has been living in Costa Mesa since 1959, attending the local schools. Jack is a 100-ton licensed captain piloting yachts in and around Newport Beach harbor and along the local ocean coastline. He is a talented musician, is a paddle boarder and biker. Jack is an integral part of the maintenance team for Burr White Realty’s vacation rentals. Jack recommends taking the ferry to Balboa Island and renting a bike and ride to the Huntington Beach Pier.
Rob Armstrong is a native Californian, but moved to Hawaii during his teen years, graduating from the University of Hawaii. Rob has experience in plumbing and as a building engineer. An avid golfer, Rob’s other hobby is singing and playing guitar in a band, and booking gigs for special events. Residing close to the ocean, Rob enjoys fishing, surfing, and walking on the beach. One of his favorite restaurants in Newport Beach is the Blue Beet. Rob is a reliable and integral member of the Burr White maintenance team.
